- SWSam WalshApr 7, 20263.0These chargers are extremely frustrating. Of all the public locations in Harrogate, or anywhere I've been, they have the highest potential to enable someone to buy an EV without home charging. Cheaper power than I've seen at any other public charger (40p/kWh with the CK app) in a free car park where you can leave your car while you work nearby or get the train out of town is a pretty good idea. There are loads of chargers too which is handy for busier times. However, in the past 12 months they have been slowed to a max 5kwh charge speed, are frequently out of order and are also frequently blocked out by non-charging cars (although this is usually only once the rest of the car park is at capacity). The result is that the chargers can't be relied upon, and so people don't use them, so I imagine they are a low priority for Connected Kerb and the council, so people will use them even less. Before I was able to charge at home I intended to do the bulk of my charging here, but ended up not doing so because I couldn't rely on it. I will say though, I've found the other Connected Kerb locations in Harrogate to be better for charging, they're just unfortunately in paid car parks which only made them useful if I was parking in that location anyway.
